Minnesota’s First Medtronic DTM™ SCS Trial
On February 18, 2020, Dr. Andrew Will, Medical Director of Twin Cities Pain Clinic, along with our super talented surgical team, performed a trial procedure of the new Medtronic DTM™ spinal cord stimulation (SCS) system. This was the first DTM™ trial performed in the state of Minnesota, and one of only 20 pilot trials across the entire country. The entire team proudly posed with the happy patient after a successful procedure.
What is DTM™ Spinal Cord Stimulation?
First of all, here is a quick crash course in spinal cord stimulation. Spinal cord stimulation is a pain treatment therapy that uses mild electrical pulses to “stimulate” nerves, interrupting pain signals before they reach the brain and providing relief.
DTM™ (differential target multiplexed) spinal cord stimulation is a proprietary stimulation technology developed by Medtronic to enhance the pain relief capabilities of SCS therapy. DTM™ is a uniquely programmed waveform setting delivered by the Medtronic Intellis™ spinal cord stimulator platform. This innovative new setting could potentially result in up to 80% relief for patients suffering from chronic, intractable pain.
Twin Cities Pain Clinic is proud to be a partner in introducing this revolutionary new pain treatment technology.
