Explain pain post surgery

Dr. Andrew Pisansky of Twin Cities Pain Clinic provides an explanation of post-surgery pain, including what it is, what symptoms to look for, and how it can be treated.

Post-surgery pain, also referred to as post-operative pain (or post-op pain for short), is pain a patient continues to feel after a surgical procedure. There is always some pain to be expected after a surgery. However, if the pain persists for at least three months after the procedure, it is considered chronic pain. Chronic pain after surgery can impact the results of the patient’s procedure, their rehabilitation, and their overall quality of life.
