The new NeuroSphereTM Virtual Clinic allows a patient to both communicate with physicians and receive new stimulation treatment settings in real time regardless of location*.

EDINA, Minn., Apr. 7, 2021 – On April 6, 2021, Twin Cities Pain Clinic became the first healthcare organization in the state of Minnesota to integrate Abbott’s NeuroSphereTM Virtual Clinic into the treatment paradigm for patients currently receiving neuromodulation therapy for chronic pain or movement disorders. The first-of-its-kind remote patient care system, recently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, allows patient to communicate with physicians and specialists, ensure proper settings and functionality, and prescribe new treatment settings remotely as needed.

Twin Cities Pain Clinic is one of the premier pain management providers in the Midwest, with a special focus in neuromodulation therapies. Their highly skilled pain physicians perform hundreds of neuromodulation procedures annually at their ambulatory surgery centers. Twin Cities Pain Clinic is a significant contributor to the advancement of pain management technology through their consistent participation in national research programs in collaboration with some of the world’s leading medical device companies. This commitment to innovation, along with their stellar treatment record, have made Twin Cities Pain Clinic a preferred partner of choice for medical device companies seeking to introduce the latest pain management technologies to the Minnesota market.

The new NeuroSphere Virtual Clinic system is designed to change the treatment approach for patients suffering from chronic pain who don’t live close to necessary medical care, are unduly burdened by access to care, or who are unable to go to the doctor because of circumstances like the COVID-19 pandemic. Changes can be made in the app are relayed directly to the patient’s compatible iOS smartphone or tablet.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted how technology can and should be implemented to help guarantee patient safety and streamline the patient care experience,” said Dr. Andrew Will, founder and Medical Director of Twin Cities Pain Clinic. “We wholly believe in the efficacy of neuromodulation therapy in providing long-term, drug-free relief from chronic pain. The NeuroSphere Virtual Clinic system will allow us to offer our patients the same exceptional care outcomes, while eliminating unnecessary travel to the clinics. We look forward to the benefits this new technology will afford us and our patients, both now and beyond COVID-19.”

The NeuroSohere Virtual Clinic is compatible with Abbott’s suite of neuromodulation technologies, including InfinityTM DBS System for patients with Parkinson’s disease or essential tremor of the upper extremities, ProclaimTM XR SCS System for patients living with chronic pain of the trunk and/or limbs, and ProclaimTM DRG Neurostimulation System for patients with chronic pain in the lower limbs caused by complex regional pain syndrome or causalgia.
