Artery Embolization

Artery embolization is a minimally invasive procedure used to block or reduce excess blood flow to a specific area of the body. During the procedure, a physician inserts a thin catheter into an artery near the site of inflammation, and guides it to the target blood vessel using imaging technology. Microscopic, biocompatible particles are then released through the catheter to intentionally obstruct the vessel.

By inhibiting excess blood flow, embolization reduces inflammation to the painful area, providing relief. The surrounding healthy tissue typically continues to receive blood through nearby vessels, helping preserve normal function.
