2020 TCPC Pain Awareness Virtual 5k
Another September is in the books and another successful Twin Cities Pain Clinic Pain Awareness 5k has been raced. However, we did things a bit differently this year. To keep our employees and their families safe during the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, the 2020 Pain Awareness 5k was virtual!
Dozens of staff, friends, and family members raced in support of the American Chronic Pain Association (ACPA). But instead of one big gathering at a starting line, participants chose their own location and then ran or walked their very own 5k. Everyone got outside and enjoyed some quality exercise on a cloudy but otherwise beautiful day, while giving back to a worthy cause.
When all was said and done, Twin Cities Pain Clinic was able to donate $1,400 to support the important efforts of the ACPA. We would like to thank all our participants for their generous contributions. We also want to give a special shout out to our friends at Boston Scientific and Medtronic for their support. Thank you!
Our participants really had some fun with this event, and races were run all over the place! Here are some highlights:
One of our Certified Nurse Practitioners, Nancy Kangas, made her race a true family affair. Four generations of her family participated, completing their race in a brisk 43 minutes! That is just plan cool.
Some employees enjoyed the beautiful fall colors during their run! Marketing Manager, Jeff Blanchard and his wife Sarah, “hiked” their 5k at Interstate State Park in Taylors Falls, MN, Credentialing & Contract Specialist, Lish Thrall, ran the Lester Park trail in Duluth, while Certified Nurse Practitioner, Aimee Heinen, ventured to the Mesabi Trail near Grand Rapids, MN.
A few other participants ran their race in their own backyards, including Provider Relations Liaison, Weston Parrack, who ran a 26:02, Medical Scribe, Christina Galley, who completed her race with husband Freddy in 31:01, and Certified Nurse Practitioner, Karen Trutnau, who ran the race with her daughter in 1:01:44
A bunch of our colleagues even shared their run routes with us!
Doctor of Nursing Practice, Nancy Nyongesa, ran a nice route through Erickson Park in Rosemount, MN, completing her race in 31:19.
Call Center Lead, Mallory Butchko, raced around Lake Bde Maka Ska in Minneapolis, at a time of 1:01:07, while her guest, David, ran his 5k way out in Kansas at a speedy time of 24:33!
Telemedicine Coordinator, Montana Prekker, zipped around Lake of the Isles in Minneapolis at a lightning quick time of 23:48.
And Davey Kulberg, one of the superstar RNs on our clinical research team, recorded the fastest overall time when he ran a route through Maple Grove, MN in a blisteringly fast 19:32!
Nicely done everyone, and thank you again for supporting Pain Awareness!
