Vertiflex

The Vertiflex® procedure is a safe, minimally invasive, and FDA-approved outpatient pain treatment that is clinically proven to provide long-term relief from back and leg pain.

Vertiflex was specifically designed to offer significant relief from pain caused by lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS), a condition that occurs when an area of the lower (lumbar) spine narrows and pinches the nerves running through it.

What is Vertiflex?

Vertiflex provides a simple but effective solution to relieve LSS pain. A small, titanium alloy spacer is implanted into the area of the spine where the nerves are being pinched. Small arms on the spacer then fold open around the spinous processes, locking the spacer in place.

The spacer prevents the spinous processes from compressing together, which stops the nerves from getting pinched.

This unique therapy has proven effective at providing long-term relief in 90% of cases. The procedure is also entirely reversible, meaning the implant can be removed if necessary.

More About Lumbar Spinal Stenosis

Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) is a common affliction that occurs when spinal nerves become compressed or pinched, causing pain in the lower back and legs.

The bones of your spine form a hollow channel called the spinal canal, which houses the spinal nerves. These nerves run through the spinal canal from the base of your skull all the way down to where the spine meets up with the hips. There, the nerves exit the canal and branch off all over your lower body.

As people age, general wear and tear may cause the lower (lumbar) portion of the spinal canal to narrow, pinching the nerves. This narrowing is referred to as lumbar spinal stenosis and most often results in dull, aching pain in the back, buttocks and legs.

Pain is usually worse when standing or walking. Relief is achieved by sitting down or bending/leaning forward.

LSS affects over 14 million Americans and is most common in people over 60. If left untreated, the condition can worsen over time, significantly reducing mobility and quality of life.
