First Intracept® Procedure Successfully Performed
Dr. Anne Kokayeff and Dr. Andrew will successfully completed our organization’s first Intracept® procedure on the morning of June 6, 2021 at Twin Cities Surgery Center. This signals another step forward in our organization’s goal of offering an ever expanding variety of non-opioid therapies for chronic pain relief.
What is Intracept®?
The Intracept® Procedure is a minimally invasive, outpatient pain therapy designed to relieve chronic low back pain originating inside the basivertebral nerve. This unique nerve is located inside the vertebrae, which makes getting to it a specialized process in itself.
The Intracept® Procedure incorporates a set of specialized tools that allows a probe to be run into the vertebrae, directly to the basivertebral nerve. Heat is then passed through the probe and applied to the nerve. This stops the nerve from transmitting pain signals to the brain, resulting in pain relief.
