Explaining Pain with Dr. Andrew Pisansky – Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy Video

Dr. Andrew Pisansky of Twin Cities Pain Clinic explains diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), including what causes it and how modern treatments can be used to manage the pain.

Diabetes occurs when the body can’t produce enough insulin or when the body is resistant to the effects of insulin. As a result, too much sugar remains in the blood rather than being transported into the body’s tissues, which can cause a variety of health issues, including damage to the blood vessels that supply organs such as the retina of the eye, the kidneys, and the nervous system. Neuropathy refers to damage to the peripheral nerves of the nervous system. Peripheral nerves are the nerves that relay sensory information from your extremities, such as the hands and feet, to your brain. DPN pain can now be managed with spinal cod simulation, a highly effective, long-lasting alternative to pain medications.
